MY SOUND WORK ON 'LAST STAND'
Last summer I had the chance to be involved in an incredible project called 'Last Stand' by director and writer John Tueart. I hadn't met John face to face yet (due to COVID19), but just by reading the script I was already in love with his idea. It was such a great opportunity to put in practice everything l had learned during my academic studies.
This project gave me the opportunity to prove my self handling effects and music for 'Last Stand'.
BACKGROUNDS
I can't deny that Alfonso Cuarón movies have had a big impact on my way of shaping backgrounds for "Last Stand'. Cuarón with his immersive camera movement provides such great opportunities to play with audio placements.
Randy Thom explaining Cast Away's naturalistic sound design, instead, has pushed me to approach the film from a different angle. Randy was asked by Cast Away director (Robert Zemeckis) to design ambience sound with no birds, animals, insects just to amplify the main character sense of loneliness stranded on a desert island.
So I took the chance to design backgrounds in movement.
My aim was to create, according to the scene exigencies, an appropriate tonal sound mostly made by all sorts of wind and exterior tones blended with some original synth sounds.
